Nawfija

Nawfija also written as Nawfijah (pronounced Nor-fe-jah or Lur vu jor by natives) is an Igbo town located in southeastern Nigeria. It is under the Orumba South Local Government Area council in Anambra State. The town shares its boundaries with Ajalli, Akpu, Ezira and Isulo.

The town is made up seven major villages namely: Amokwu, Ezeome, Ohukabia, Umuawahi, Umuezeiyi, Umuezeogbu, and Umuoma.


Nawfija is serviced by a number of amenities such as a health center, a secondary and primary school and a number of Anglican and Catholic Churches. Nawfija is also home to very successful and educated Nigerians who can be found anywhere in the world.

    Councilor: David Okechukwu Chibueze Anyene-Uzoatuegwu (Onafruagu) was on Saturday January 11, 2014 elected as the Councilor for Nawfijah Ward. David promised to introduce structured practical administration that will make the city of Nawfijah to function and compete in the 21st century. The position of a Councilor is comparable to the office of Mayor of a city.
