National Housing Bank (NHB) was set up by the Government of India in 1984 as an autonomous society under the Societies Registration Act 1860. Board has its Headquarter in Institutional Area, Sector 18, Gurgaon (Haryana).[2]
The institution, owned by the Reserve Bank of India, was established to promote private real estate acquisition.[3] The NHB is regulating[4] and re-financing[5] social housing programs and other activities like research and IT-initiatives, too.
