National Education Assessment System

National Education Assessment System (NEAS) is education assessment system in Pakistan with the help of World Bank and British Council that was launched in 2013 to develop national capacity for monitoring learning achievements of elementary students and improve the quality of services — curriculum, textual material, teachers’ delivery, policy formulation.[1]

The system is a key programme of the Education Sector Reforms (ESR), and is funded by the World Bank.[2]

A central NEAS unit is responsible for planning and co-ordinating all aspects of the national assessment, from monitoring and controlling quality to preparing the final report. Within each province, a provincial education assessment centre developed test items, carried out administration and marking, collated data and disseminated reports.[3]
