NationBuilder is a community organizing platform. It allows users to build and manage websites and offers tools to communicate with supporters. The company was founded in November 2009 by CEO Jim Gilliam and is located in downtown Los Angeles.
Technology
NationBuilder is built with Ruby on Rails and uses the Liquid (template engine) in its themes, similar to Shopify. Although a theme sync tool exists for Mac OS, it is not currently possible to modify themes using other operating systems, the API, or revision control. NationBuilder uses PostgreSQL for its back-end database.
