As a Prosecutor, I have a proven record of convicting violent criminals who raped and murdered innocent women or hurt children. My experience as a Prosecutor helped shaped my view that the role of the Attorney General is to protect Arkansas’ citizens and our constitution." [3] Nate Steel accepted the 2014 Outstanding Representative of the Year award from the Arkansas Fraternal Order of Police. “Nate Steel has always been on the front line on issues important to us, like combating crime and upholding the Rule of Law,” said Allen Hamby, president of the Arkansas Fraternal Order of Police. “We support Nate in his efforts to become Arkansas’s next Attorney General.” “As a former prosecutor and legislator, I spent my career working with law enforcement to protect Arkansans and victims of violent crime. I’m humbled by this award. As your next Attorney General, I will make the safety of Arkansas children my top priority,” Steel stated.[4]
He lost to the Republican nominee, Leslie Rutledge.[5] Steel's state House seat was also won by a Republican, Justin Gonzales.
Nate Steel's introductory campaign commercial, posted on YouTube, identifies prison overcrowding in Arkansas as a problem because the state has the second-worst meth rate in America.[6][7]
Steel was the only Democrat running statewide who garnered the endorsement of the National Rifle Association.[8]
