Nastaran Akhavan (in Persian: نسترن اخوان December 5, 1961, Tehran, is an Iranian non-fiction writer. Being one of the survivor of Iranian Black Friday, she wrote the true story of the day and afterwards in her view as a 17 years old Iranian school girl in a book Spared.[1] She left the country in 1978, first resided in England and obtained her high school diploma. In 1979 she immigrated to the United States.[2]

Spared

The book Spared is a true story of the deadly demonstration that took place on 9/8/1978 in Iran, Tehran, later known as Black Friday. The book explains how she miraculously survived and describes the general aspects of a teenager's life in Iran just before the revolution.
