Nannup Branch Railway

The Nannup Branch Railway was a branch line of the Western Australian Government Railways between Wonnerup and Nannup between 1899 and 1984.

Originally the W.A. Timber Company line of 1879 was on the initial part of the line through Wonnerup, then the Wonnerup to Jarrahwood line was built in 1898–99 by the Jarrah Wood and Saw Mills Co. Ltd.

The line operated until 1903, and was bought by the WAGR in 1907.[1]

Advocacy for the extension to the railway was occurring in 1905.[2][3][4]

In 1909 the Jarrahwood to Nannup line was completed, and opened.[5] The line was closed in 1984.[6]

In 1989 a re-commissioning study was conducted.[7]
