Nancy Martinez (born Nancy Martin-Quirion on August 26, 1960 in La Prairie, Quebec) is a French Canadian dance-pop singer and musician who is primarily known for her 1986 hits "For Tonight" and "Move Out".

History

Martinez was born in La Prairie on August 26, 1960 and mostly grew up in Eastern Montreal. She graduated from Vincent D'Indy music school in 1980.

In 1982, she released two Hi-NRG tracks, "I'm Gonna Get Your Love" (credited as Jade) and "Can't Believe" (credited as Nancy Martin).

In 1986, she released two freestyle hits, "For Tonight" which went to number two for two weeks on the dance charts[1] and "Move Out", both from the album Not Just The Girl Next Door. The songs are still in rotation at many dance music radio stations throughout Canada. In 1993 Nancy released a French album on Isba Music entitled Pourquoi Tu Pars? featuring the title track, a cover of Italian singer songwriter Marco Masini's "Perche lo fai?" As well as "La Maitresse de tes reves" whose video received much airplay on Musique Plus (Much Music's sister station in Quebec). In 2006, Martinez collaborated with MC Mario and Ivan Pavlin on the song "Not Guilty".

In 2010, "For Tonight" was remixed by MC Mario & Vito V from Les Boyz Electro and appeared on his album Mixdown 2010, peaking #2 on his show and #9 in Canada.
