Naeem Baig

Naeem Baig (Urdu: نعیم بیگ ) (born 1952) is a Pakistani short story writer.[1] He has written short stories (afsanas) in Urdu and has published a collection of short stories and essays titled You, Damn Sala.[1] He has spent most of the time of his life working overseas.[1] He is author of the novel Kogan Plan.[2][3]

Personal Life and Career

Naeem Baig was born in Lahore, Pakistan. He got his early education from the institutions in Lahore and Gujranwala. In 1975, he started his career as a banker and rendered his services in the far-flung areas of the country. He stepped up the ladder of success and became Senior Vice President and Deputy General Manager in a bank in short span of time. Later on, he resigned from his job and worked with Multinational companies in engineering financial management. He has been in United Kingdom, Dubai and Africa and gained experience. He observed life there very minutely. He is a member of several international organizations such as International Forum, Books and Writers' club, Short Story Writers, freelance writers and International Human Rights Watch.He is author of several books and short stories.

You, Damn Sala

You, Damn Sala (ISBN 978-969-9550-05-8) is a collection of 13 short stories and essays. The settings of the stories range from rural areas of Pakistan to cities such as Dubai and London. Baig writes about social evils existing in Pakistani society. The short story "Apni Mitti" brings two women face to face in a Railway Station at Balochistan. The women have lost their family members in the conflict. The writer has portrayed the tragedy and fruitlessness of hatred.[1]
