Nadira Naipaul

Nadira, Lady Naipaul (born 1953 in Mombasa, Kenya[1]) is a Pakistani journalist and the wife of novelist Sir Vidiadhar Naipaul.

Nadira was born Nadira Khannum Alvi and was raised in Kenya. She worked as a journalist for Pakistani newspaper, The Nation for ten years before meeting Naipaul. They married in 1996, two months after the death of Naipaul's first wife, Patricia Hale.[2]

She was previously married in Pakistan to Argha Hashim. Nadira and Hashim had one daughter, who lived with various relatives after the marriage ended. V.S. Naipaul later adopted her daughter.[3]
