Nachom-ia Kumpasar ('Let's dance to the rhythm'), is a Konkani film. It is based on the lives of two jazz musicians, Chris Perry and Lorna.[1] The film, which takes its title from the name of a song by the two artists, was directed by Bardroy Barretto.[2] It starred Vijay Maurya and Palomi Ghosh in the lead roles.[3] The story is told through over 20 popular Konkani songs from the 1960s and 1970s that have been re-recorded for this film.[4] The film is set in the 1960s and is a tribute to the 'unsung' Konkani musicians of that era.[5][6][7]

The Goa premiere was held at Ravindra Bhavan, Margao on 4 December 2014.[8] The film was crowd-funded.[9]

Cast

Plot

The movie kicks off in the suburbs of Bombay, where Chris Perry and his band are auditioning for a presumably renowned Club by singing the first song of the movie, "Cu Cu Ru Cu". They are, however, laughed upon by another group and eventually turned down by the Manager of the Club. This prompts the Band to look out for a female singer to join them as they feel that could be the difference in making it big.

Awards

At the 62nd National Film Awards, the film won two awards and a special mention. The film won the award for the best feature film in Konkani, Aparna Raina won the award for best production design, and actress Palomi Ghosh received a special mention.[10][11]
