Myrmecia maxima is an Australian ant which belongs to the Myrmecia genus. This species is native to Australia. Myrmecia maxima was first described by Moore in 1842.[1]
Myrmecia maxima was one of the earliest bull ants to be officially described. Due to no type specimen available with this species, it is exactly unknown if this species is a completely valid species. Its original description is rather similar to other Myrmecia ants that are found around the south of Western Australia.[2]
