Muzaffarpur (Vidhan Sabha constituency) (Hindi: मुजफ्फरपुर विधान सभा निर्वाचन क्षेत्र) is an assembly constituency in Muzaffarpur district in the Indian state of Bihar.
Extent
As per Delimitation of Parliamentary and Assembly constituencies Order, 2008, No. 94 Muzaffarpur (Vidhan Sabha constituency) is composed of the following: Muzaffarpur municipal corporation and Bhagwanpur, Madhubani, Majhauli Khetal and Patahi gram panchayats of Musahari community development block.[1]
Muzaffarpur (Vidhan Sabha constituency) is part of No. 15 Muzaffarpur (Lok Sabha constituency).[1]
Results
1977-2010
In the 2010 state assembly elections, Suresh Kumar Sharma of BJP won the Muzaffarpur assembly seat defeating his nearest rival Mohammad Jamal of LJP.[2] Contests in most years were multi cornered but only winners and runners are being mentioned. Vijendra Choudhary, contesting as an independent, defeated Vinita Vijay of Congress in October 2005 and Suresh Kumar Sharma of BJP in February 2005. Vijendra Chaudhary representing RJD defeated Suresh Kumar Sharma of BJP in 2000. Vijendra Chaudhary representing JD defeated Raghunath Pandey of Congress in 1995. Raghunath Pandey of Congress defeated Arun Kumar Sinha of JD in 1990, Rajeshwar Prasad Singh Bhikhari of BJP in 1985 and Ram Kripal Singh of BJP in 1980. Manjay Lal of JP defeated Ramdev Sharma of CPI in 1977.[3]
