Museum Computer Network
The Museum Computer Network (MCN) is a US-based non-profit organization for professionals with an interest in the use of computer technology for museums.
Overview
MCN was established in 1967 as an informal grouping of museums in the New York City area.[1] MCN runs an annual conference, the MCN-Ldiscussion forum, special interest groups, an online directory of museum websites, etc. Members include individuals, institutions and companies. The organization is run by a board of directors. Officers include a president, vice-president, secretary and treasurer.
Conference
MCN holds an annual conference. The MCN 2009 conference was held in Portland, Oregon, November 11–14, 2009,[2] with the title of Museum Information, Museum Efficiency: Doing More with Less!. It was the 37th Annual MCN Conference.
Spectra
MCN published Spectra, established in 1974.[1] For example, the Computer Interchange of Museum Information (CIMI) Standards Framework was published in Spectra.[3]
