Murugavel Janakiraman is the founder-CEO of Matrimony.com Pvt Ltd, an Indian Internet conglomerate with presence in Matrimony, Property and related businesses. Matrimony.com was ranked among the Deloitte Technology Fast 50 companies in India in 2011, 2009 and 2008.[1] Matrimony.com was also listed as one of the top 50 companies in NASSCOM's 100 IT Innovators.

Murugavel’s other initiatives include Elite Matrimony, AssistedMatrimony,[2] more than 150 retail outlets across India, over 350 community-based matrimony portals, Indiaproperty, a leading property portal in India and Tambulya, a return gifts portal for various occasions.

Education and Career

Hailing from a humble background, Murugavel Janakiraman graduated in Statistics from Madras University and completed his MCA also from Madras University.[3] While working as a programmer in New Jersey, USA Murugavel Janakiraman started a community portal in April 1997. A small section for matrimony attracted steady traffic. Which eventually made him to start BharatMatrimony.com in 2000.

According to the latest online survey conducted by research firm Juxt Consult, BharatMatrimony.com has emerged as the top matrimony website.[4][5]
