Murder of Jon-Niece Jones

Jon-Niece Jones (previously known as Baby Bones) was an American girl whose skeletal remains were found near the gated forest of New Jersey's Six Flags Great Adventure theme park. The case was showcased by America's Most Wanted, after the little girl was found by a hunter in search for a deer.

Introduction

Police say that on March 18, 2005, a man hunting in Upper Freehold Township, New Jersey discovered a small human skull, of a 6-9 year old African-American girl, in the wooded undergrowth. New Jersey State Police Crime Scene Investigators cordoned off the area. [1]

2012 developments

In October, 2012, the remains were identified as belonging to Jon-Niece, from Harlem. Jon-Niece allegedly died in the home of her aunt in 2002 at nine-years-old, after suffering years of systematic physical and emotional abuse by her mother, Elisha Jones. It has been alleged that the victim's mother Elisha, uncle James Jones, and aunt's boyfriend Godfrey Gibson first set the body on fire, then disposed of it where it was later found.

Although the victim's mother Elisha has since died of natural causes, her aunt Likisha, as well as Jones and Gibson, have been charged with evidence tampering, obstruction of justice and hindering apprehension.[2]
