Murali Gopy (Malayalam: മുരളി ഗോപി) is an Indian screenwriter, actor, author, singer and journalist.[1] He made his debut in Rasikan and got critical acclaim for Ee Adutha Kaalathu and Left Right Left.[2]
Career
Murali is the son of legendary film actor Bharath Gopi and Jayalakshmy. He made his debut as an actor and screen writer in the Lal Jose movie Rasikan (2004). He has also sung the song Chaanju nikkana in this movie. His second movie was Blessy's Bhramaram in which he played the role of Dr.Alex Varghese, which won him the 2009 Sathyan Memorial Film Award for Best Supporting Actor.[3] He won the 61st Filmfare Awards South for The Best Actor in a Supporting Role for his performance in Left Right Left.

S. Madhavan.[9][10][11] Murali's performance in the movie, also won him numerous awards including Reporter Film Award for The Best Supporting Actor. Left Right Left, also directed by Arun Kumar Aravind was released on 14 June 2013 and received excellent reviews. The basic essence of the movie is that a man is part DNA, part unknown and part what he sees and goes through as a child. It is a social thriller set in three periods – the 60s/70s, the 80s/90s and the present.[12] He will also pen the script for Mohanlal starrer Lucifer, to be directed by Rajesh Pillai.[13]He launched a website in the name of his father Bharath Gopi.
As an actor, Murali has been praised for his attention to minute details and realistic acting style.[14]
Murali is also an acclaimed short story writer. He published his first short story 'Ayur Rekha' in Kala Kaumudi in 1991 at the age of 19. Later on, he published numerous stories which were compiled together in his book 'Rasikan Sodanai', published by Rainbow Books.[15][16] He has also drawn illustrations for The Hindu, Kalakaumudi and DC Books.
As a journalist, he has worked as sub-editor and reporter for The Indian Express, sub-editor and features editor for The Hindu, chief sub-editor with Arab-Allied Media, Dubai, for the sports magazines Cleanbowled and Sports Today and as chief editor of MSN India Entertainment (India Syndicate).[17][18]
