Mungana affair

The Mungana Affair involved the selling, in 1922, of some mining properties in the Chillagoe-Mungana districts of northern Queensland, Australia to the Queensland government,^[1] allegedly at a grossly inflated price.

In 1929 the Queensland Government appointed a Royal Commission to investigate the sale. The Commission found that two prominent state politicians, Ted Theodore, Premier of Queensland from 1919 to 1925, and William McCormack, Premier of Queensland from 1925 to 1929, each secretly held 25% ownership of the properties sold.
