Mundzuk

Mundzuk (rendered Mundzucus by Jordanes, Μουνδίουχος by Priscus, 390-434) was a Hunnic prince and brother of Hunnic rulers Octar (Optar) and Rugila (Ruas). Mundzuk was the father of Attila the Hun and the uncle of Bleda or Buda the son of Rugalia. Mundzuk is briefly mentioned in Jordanes (Getica 180): "Now this Attila was the son of Mundiuch, and his brothers were Octar and Ruas who are said to have ruled before Attila, though not over quite so many tribes as he."[1] Nothing else is known about his personality. Hungarian legend has Mundzuk as a descendant of Nimrod.
