History

In 1973, Mul-T-Lock introduced the first-of-its-kind, four-way lock system. Those original four-way locks are still in use today all over the world. In 1976, the success of the four-way lock spread worldwide as marketing efforts expanded globally. With the company’s rapid growth, Mul-T-Lock expanded its manufacturing plant and by 1982, the company had greatly increased its product line to include a wide range of High Security cylinders, locks and accessories. To support the company’s growth and reach, in 1987, Mul-T-Lock opened its first sales division in the US together with the opening of its second manufacturing plant in Israel.

In the years that followed, Mul-T-Lock further expanded its global reach; with European sales units and its entrance into the Asia Pacific market. It also began to broaden its operations by manufacturing automatic key-cutting and assembly machines for locksmiths and external customers.

In 1998, Mul-T-Lock garnered the attention of Assa Abloy, the global leader in total door opening solutions and was acquired by them in 2000. Today, Mul-T-Lock has 13 selling units globally a distribution network present in more than 70 countries.
