Muhsin Ertuğral (born 15 September 1959 ) is a Turkish football coach.

During his time as a player between 1979–89, Ertuğral featured as reserve player for FC Cologne, Union Solingen, Standard Liege, KV Mechelen, Antalyaspor, Eskişehirspor and VfL Sindelfingen.

Coaching career

Ertuğral's, coaching career began in 1990 with German amateur side TSV Dagersheim, he then managed from 1991 to 1995 TSV Plattenhardt. Ertuğral also coached Congo DR, then still known as Zaire, taking them to the African Cup of Nations in 1996, where he was sacked after the opening match of the tournament. He also worked as assistant manager for Turkish sides Gençlerbirliği and Trabzonspor in the late 1990s. Later, he managed South African side Kaizer Chiefs, where he picked up a number of trophies during his first stint, including the African Cup Winners' Cup in 2001, being the only person to lead a South African team to this honour.

While appointed as manager of Tunisian side Club Africain, he was undefeated in the league in 2004, however not winning the title that year, he had helped the team the African Cup Winners' Cup Semifinals, only a year prior. He helped Austrian side SV Mattersburg to the UEFA Cup Quarterfinals in 2004, and he finished third in the Egyptian Premier League with Ismaily in 2005, also making it to the CAF Champions League Semifinals with them that same year.

Ertuğral took Ajax Cape Town to ABSA Cup glory with a 2–0 victory against league champions Mamelodi Sundowns on May 26, 2007. That proved to be a successful season for Ajax under Ertuğral as they went on to finish fourth in the league and the only side never to suffer defeat against Sundowns in that season.[1]

On 8 May 2009 the Turkish coach has quit Kaizer Chiefs, but could remain in South Africa, where he is tracked by Ajax Cape Town.[2] On 18 May 2009 the former Kaizer Chiefs' Turkish coach has signed for Ajax Cape Town.[3]

As of 8 October 2009, upon Bülent Uygun's resignation, he agreed to pen a deal with the Turkish Super League underdogs Sivasspor, the contract runs between 30 June 2011.[4] Yiğidos also announced that the assistant coach position will be occupied by former Beşiktaş favorite and South Africa national, Fani Madida.[5]

On 24 April 2013 it was announced that Muhsin Ertuğral would take over as the new Technical Director of Ajax Cape Town F.C.. This decision resulted in the direct resignation of then interim coach Jan Versleijen, who had not been notified of the new hiring. As a result Muhsin Ertuğral will see the Cape club through until the end of the 2012-13 PSL season.[6] David Nyathi was announced as his assistant coach, who had previously lead the Ajax CT under-19 team to the 2013 Metropolitan Premier Cup Championship, where he won the “Coach of the Tournament Award”.[7]
