Mourn is a Spanish rock band formed in Barcelona, Spain in 2013 by Carla Pérez, Jazz Rodríguez, Antonio Postius, and Leia Rodríguez.

History

The frontwomen Carla Pérez Vas and Jazz Rodríguez Bueno, both guitarists and singers, met in high-school, in 2012. They started playing and sing together covers from other artists. In October 2013, they had their first concert, playing "Come Together", by The Beatles.

In January 2014, they recorded their first album, beside the drummer Antonio Postius, who knew Bueno since they were 12, and bassist Leia Rodríguez Bueno, Jazz's younger sister. In October 2014, they signed Captured Tracks. At the same time, Pitchfork Media named as their Best New Tracks their singles "Otitis"[1] and "Silver Gold".[2]

The Catalonian's band self-titled debt album was released in Barcelona in September 2014 by Sones Records. The album was straight to tape in a two-day stretch in an attempt to recreate the group's live spontaneity. “Your Brain Is Made of Candy” was written while Bueno was “bored and angry” in class, while their first-ever song, “Boys Are Cunts”, was thought-up in the shower, although they do not play it anymore. The album has had good reviews.[3][4]
