Mount Thompson crematorium is a heritage-listed crematorium located on north-western slopes of Mount Thompson in Brisbane, Queensland, Australia. The street address is Nursery Road in Holland Park. It was the first crematorium established in Queensland.[1]

History

The crematorium was designed by Richard Gailey, Junior (the son and business partner of Richard Gailey).[2]

The crematorium was opened on 11 September 1934.[3]

Description

In 1934, noted sculptor Daphne Mayo created in situ the relief panels for the original chapel of the crematorium.[4]

Heritage listing

The crematorium is listed on the Brisbane Heritage Register.[5]
