Mount Carmel A.M.E. Zion Campground is a historic African Methodist Episcopal church camp in Lancaster, Lancaster County, South Carolina. It was established in 1866 and consists of a complex of approximately 55 small “cabins” or “tents” and the brick Mt. Carmel A.M.E. Zion Church located in the general form of a rectangle. An “arbor,” or open-air structure, is located in the center of the complex. The majority of the cabins are small frame or concrete block structures. Also on the property is the church cemetery.[2][3]
It was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1979.[1]
