Motorways in Hungary
Motorways in Hungary (Hungarian: Autópálya) are first-class high-speed highways. As of December 2013, the total length of Hungarian motorways is 1,361 kilometers. The construction of the Hungarian motorway system started in 1964 with M7, which finished in 1975 between Budapest and the Lake Balaton. The total length of the system reached 200 km in 1980, 500 km in 1998 and 1000 km in 2007.
Motorways
- M0 – ring road around Budapest
- M1 – from M0 towards northwestern Hungary (Győr, Tatabánya) and Austria
- M15 – connects M1 to Bratislava via D2 motorway in Slovakia[nb 1]
- M3 – from M0 towards northeastern Hungary (Miskolc, Debrecen, Nyíregyháza) and Ukraine
- M30 – connects M3 to Miskolc
- M31 – connects M0 to M3 near Gödöllő
- M35 – connects M3 to Debrecen
- M4 – planned, currently connects Ferenc Liszt International Airport to M0[nb 1]
- M43 – connects M5 near Szeged to Makó
- M5 – from M0 towards southeastern Hungary (Kecskemét, Szeged) and Serbia
- M6 – from M0 towards southern Hungary (Szekszárd) and Croatia
- M60 – connects M6 to Pécs
- M7 – from M0 towards southwestern Hungary (Lake Balaton) and Croatia
- M70 – connects M7 to A5 motorway in Slovenia
- M8 – planned, currently connects Dunaújváros and Dunavecse, and another part between Balatonakarattya and Balatonfűzfő
- M86 – planned, currently connects Szombathely and Csorna
- M9 – planned, currently connects M6 with route 51 near Szekszárd[nb 1]
Expressways
- Road 84 between Sopron and the border with Austria (4 km)
- Road 3 between M3 and Gyöngyös (7 km)
- Road 26 between Miskolc and Sajóbábony (10 km)
- Road 11 between Budapest and Szentendre (4 km and 9 km within the city limit of Budapest)
- Road 5 between M5 and Kecskemét (8 km)
- Road 6 between Szekszárd and Tolna (4 km)
- Road 44 between Békéscsaba and Gyula (11 km)
- Road 47 between Szeged and Hódmezővásárhely (24 km)
- Several parts of Road 8 between Veszprém and Székesfehérvár
- Several parts of Road 4 between Budapest and Püspökladány

- M2 – towards Vác
- M25 – from Füzesabony to Eger
- M44 – from Békéscsaba to Kecskemét
- M49 – from Kántorjánosi to Csenger
