Moss Run, Virginia

Moss Run is an unincorporated community in Alleghany County, Virginia, United States. Moss Run Road is located directly off of rural route 159 about 10 miles west of Covington, Virginia. A place of notice in the community is the Moss Run Baptist Church. Moss Run Road was originally created at a derailment line for the railroad. Moss Run Road became a public road in the late 1960s when the property owners agree to donate portions of their land to the state. The rollercoaster like one lane track curves its way up into the beautiful mountains of Alleghany County crossing tributaries to Moss Run Branch. Moss Run Branch is a tributary to Dunlap Creek.
