Moroto Regional Referral Hospital, commonly known as Moroto Hospital is a hospital in the town of Moroto, in Northeastern Uganda. It is the referral hospital for the districts of Abim, Kaabong, Kotido, Moroto and Nakapiripirit.[1]
Location
The hospital is located in the central business district of Moroto, in Moroto District, approximately 460 kilometres (290 mi), by road, northeast of Kampala, Uganda's capital and largest city.[2] The coordinates of Moroto Regional Referral Hospital are:2°31'57.0"N, 34°39'41.0"E (Latitude:2.532500; Longitude:34.661389).[3]
Overview
Moroto Hospital is a public hospital, funded by the Uganda Ministry of Health and general care in the hospital is free. It is one of the 13 Regional Referral Hospitals in Uganda.[4] The hospital is designated as one of the 15) Internship Hospitals where graduates of Ugandan medical schools can serve one year of internship under the supervision of qualified specialists and consultants.[5] The bed capacity of Moroto Hospital is 114 beds, as of June 2010.[6]
