Moragudi is a census town in Kadapa district in the Indian state of Andhra Pradesh.

Demographics

As of 2001 India census,[1] Moragudi had a population of 5961. Males constitute 50% of the population and females 50%. Moragudi has an average literacy rate of 55%, lower than the national average of 59.5%: male literacy is 68%, and female literacy is 42%. In Moragudi, 12% of the population is under 6 years of age.

Moragudi is a large town located in the district of Cuddapah in the state of Andhra Pradesh in India. It has a population of about 6894 persons living in around 1632 households.

The state government has cleared the first hurdle in setting up of a nuclear power plant in the state and has identified near moragudi area in Kadapa district as the most suitable location. The Genco which has submitted its preliminary report to the state government recently has asked the government to earmark 2,500 to 3,000 acres of land to set up two units of 1,000 MW each nuclear power plant. In a far reaching move, the state government on Thursday cancelled the huge chunk of land allotment made to Brahmani Steels owned by Gali Janardhan Reddy in Kadapa district. In 2007, then  Y S Rajasekhara Reddy's government allotted 10,760 acres of land to the now jailed Gali Janardhan Reddy's M/S Brahmani Industries Limited (BIL) to set up a steel plant, as big as Vizag Steel Plant (VSP).

moragudi is a village in Kadapa district now known as YSR Kadapa district of Andhra Pradesh in India. It lies on the left bank of the river Penneru. Mylavaram reservoir was constructed on this river near the town, and GANDIKOTA reservoir near Gandikota fort. This place, sometimes referred to as moraharagudi.

It is equally famous for its trade in ghee and also trades in cotton, groundnut, jowar and other millets. In recent years its trade in citrus fruits appears to be on the increase. There are many lemon orchards near the bank of penna river and surrounding areas.
