Moorside railway station is located in the Moorside and Wardley areas of Swinton, near Manchester, England. The station stands on Moorside Road close to the junction with Chorley Road (A6), Swinton.

Moorside is one of the local stations that lie on the Atherton Line between Wigan and Manchester. The station is located 6 12 miles (10.5 km) west of Manchester Victoria with regular Northern Rail services to these towns as well as Salford, Walkden, Atherton and Hindley.

Until 6 May 1974 the railway station was named Moorside & Wardley, becoming Moorside on that date.[1]

Moorside is the least used station on the Atherton Line.

Service

Monday to Saturday daytimes, there is generally an hourly service southbound towards Manchester Victoria and northbound towards Wigan Wallgate & Kirkby respectively. Additional trains call during the weekday peak period, which operate on the Manchester-Southport service.

Evenings there is an hourly service in each direction to Manchester Victoria and Wigan.

There is now an hourly Sunday service in each direction on Sundays although the service only runs between 10 am and 6 pm and only goes up to Wigan.
