Rakieem "Mookie" Mustafa Allah Salaam (born April 5, 1990) is an American sprint athlete. He attended the University of Oklahoma until 2011, when he decided to forgo his senior year and sign a professional contract with Adidas,[1] to better prepare for the 2012 United States Olympic Trials. Growing up in San Bernardino California, Mookie started running track in the Sixth grade where he fell in love with the sport, but was forced to quit do to his step dad Geno. Moving around a lot Salaam found his worth in Edmond Oklahoma where he would be a three sport athlete, but on the Track is where Mookie took Oklahoma by storm. Going undefeated in both the 100m and 200m dashes, salaam quickly turned heads for his performances on the grid iron, but opened eyes up on the track. Deciding to stay in Oklahoma and give up football scholarships to stay close to his three younger brothers who were placed in the Boys ranch in Edmond and his younger sister who as well as salaam was adopted. It was not until Salaam's Junior year at the University of Oklahoma where he made a name for himself Nationality, running times in the 100m at 9.97 and in the 200m 20.05 for the outdoor season and 60m 6.54 and 200m 20.39 all are school records at the university Oklahoma. In 2013 Salaam was part of the USA 4x100m team that placed second at the World Championships in Moscow Russia.

On June 10, 2011, Salaam became the 79th person to cross the 10-second barrier as he ran 9.97 at the NCAA Track and Field Championships.[2]

Salaam is native of Edmond, Oklahoma, and attended Edmond North High School. He played wide receiver on the football varsity, but decided to focus on track after suffering a dislocated hip in his junior year, and turned down Football schalorships to run track at the University of Oklahoma.
