The Monthly Aanchal is an Urdu newspaper based in Pakistan. It is the oldest Magazine or Digest of Pakistan in continuous publication since its foundation in 1979. Its current group editor is Mushtaq Ahmed Qureshi.
The Monthly Anachal is published by the Naey Ufaq Group of Publication. The Monthly Aanchal and Monthly Naey Ufaq has a circulation of over 500,000 .
Beginning of the Journey
“Naey Ufaq” was published first time in 1977 with the name of Ibne Safi magazine to pay tribute to the
writer of twentieth century, legend of Asia and great mystery novel writer Mr. Ibn-e-Safi. But because of
lame objections of foes, its name had to change to "Naey Ufaq" in 1979.
Very soon Naey Ufaq got a unique place in the world of renowned Magazines under the guidance and
personal interest of Mr. Ibne Safi. With the name of Ibne Safi and his practical cooperation the Convoy of
worker, friends and writers was established, and then my friend like my brothers renowned as Azhar
Kaleem joined us and from the very first day he took over the editorship. It would not extravagant if I say
that he more than me who convert this plant in a huge tree.
This was a miracle that with the love of my friends, dedication, sincerity and blessing of Mr. Ibne Safi
encouraged me to change “Naey Ufaq” with the Group of “Naey Ufaq Group of Publications”. On his
advice first I published “Aanchal” then in 1981 “Naya Rukh” afterwards “Iqdaam” and “Monthly Action”
which was lately changed into “Daily Action”. After that I published “Daily Nawa-e-Nawabshah” the first
Urdu Daily from a big city of Sindh, Nawabshah. “Iqdaam” was Pakistan’s first literary Digest. This
monthly was also published to pay tribute to Mr. Ibne Safi. It was edited by Zeb Malihaabadee and A.R.
Mumtaz. The fame and popularity of "Iqdaam" was hard for my foes to digest. They all were up against it,
and they used all their means to stop its publication and at last they succeeded in achieving their goals
and unfortunately I was forced to stop publication of “ Iqdaam”.
As long Azhar Kaleem was alive I have ever had to struggle for the matter for publication of “Naey Ufaq”
and “Naya Rukh”. I had been supervising other department but in 1985 he passed away, unfortunately I
forced the took over the charge of this department. In this struggle my beloved and friends fully support
me. Saleem Akhter Gujrati was responsible for the department of designing and calligraphy of”Naya
In the meantime computer technology has revolutionized the printing and publication world. Including
“Monthly Naey Ufaq and “Aanchal” all publications had adopted Computer Technology. In the decade of
90 attack of Electronic Media and inflation in the price of News Print at International level has broken the
back of print media that is why we had to stop the publication of “Naya Rukh”. But since then both “Naey
Ufaq” and “Aanchal are fully shining on the horizon of publication under the devoted and dedicated
supervision of my sons Imran Ahmed and Tahir Ahmed Qureshi.
Imran Ahmed and Tahir Ahmed Qureshi are busy with their team to make them better and better.
Keeping in view the demand of new era they do the changes time by time. My son Imran Ahmed Qureshi
is doing the editorial work, brother Aghaz Uddin Qureshi and Syed Taj Muhammad in circulation, Tahir
Ahmed Qureshi is monitoring the computer Department while Asrar Ahmed and Zulfiqar Ahmed Qureshi
are taking care of Advertising Department.
It is the result of struggle and hard work of my full team that today Naey Ufaq Group of Publications is
member of All Pakistan News Papers Society (APNS), Council of News Papers Editors (CPNE) and
Karachi Chamber of Commerce. It was one of my most important mottos to provide a standard literature
to new generation so that every member of the family can benefit from it.
In today’s era of Electronic Media in which we can see the hole world through a T.V remote. In this age
we have retained the study envoirment in its best position. Now this organization has completed 35 years
and it is publishing “ Monthly Aanchal” and “ Monthly Naey Ufaq, both are very popular in the world where
