2013 controversies

In 2013, Mirko Vučinić was selected for the seventh time as the Montenegrin footballer of the year. He was voted by the most points given by the coaches and team captain's of the First Montenegrin Football League. However, the public opinion was that in 2013 Dejan Damjanovic should have been awarded. Damjanovic scored 4 goals in 2014 World Cup qualifiers (2 against England and 1 against Poland and Ukraine), was announced best scorer of the K-League and the MVP of 2013 AFC Champions League. Medias agreed that Mirko Vucinic is the best overall Montenegrin footballer, however, Damjanovc's performances in 2013 were far better than Vucinic's who was injured during the decisive qualification matches of the national team. [1] [2] Finally, Montenegrin Internet portal CG-Fudbal awarded Damjanovic title "Best Montenegrin footballer of the year" by the fans' choice, according the Internet pool.[3]
