Montell Moore (born 23 December 1995) is an English football midfielder who plays for Midtjylland, on loan from Brentford. He is a product of the Brentford academy.

Playing career

Brentford

Growing up in Chiswick,[2] Moore joined the local Brentford Community Sports Trust Advanced Training Programme at age seven and impressed enough to be offered a place at the club's Centre of Excellence.[3][4] He progressed through the ranks and made his debut for the club's youth team during the 2011–12 season, making eight appearances. Moore signed scholarship forms in July 2012 and made his debut for the development squad in a 2–0 friendly defeat to Hitchin Town on 1 August, replacing Luke Norris late in proceedings.[5][6] Over the course of his two-year scholarship, Moore scored 14 goals in 36 appearances for the youth team (finishing as top scorer in the 2013–14 season) and made 10 appearances and scored one goal for the development squad.[7][8][9][10] He also spent a short period training with Brentford's Icelandic partner club, UMF Selfoss in early 2014.[11] On 30 June, Moore signed a one-year professional contract to be a part of the development squad for the 2014–15 season.[12]

After featuring for the first team during pre-season and scoring in a 5–1 rout of Barnet,[13] Moore was called into the senior squad for the opening game of the 2014–15 Championship season against Charlton Athletic. Awarded the number 33 shirt, he was an unused substitute in the 1–1 draw.[14] He made his professional debut in the following match, starting in a League Cup first round tie with Dagenham & Redbridge. With the score at 4–4, Moore scored his first senior goal seven minutes into extra time, with Brentford winning the match on penalties after an incredible 6–6 draw.[15] He also set up two goals for Stuart Dallas.[16] Moore signed a new three-year contract on 15 August, with manager Mark Warburton saying he "has shown a real confidence at this level and most importantly for a young player, he adds quality to every training session".[4] Due to the arrival of Betinho on loan and the resurgence of Toumani Diagouraga, Moore lost his place in the squad in late August, winning just two further first team call ups in September and October.[17][18] He failed to add to his one appearance during the 2014–15 season and spent the second half of the campaign out on loan.[19][20]

Burnham (loan)

Moore and development squad teammate George Pilbeam joined Southern League Premier Division strugglers Burnham on loan on 11 February 2014.[21] In a spell affected by the weather, Moore made just one appearance for the Blues, as a late substitute in a 4–2 defeat to St Neots Town on 15 February.[22]

Midtjylland (loan)

On 19 January 2015, Moore joined Danish Superliga leaders Midtjylland on loan until May 2015.[19] He made his debut for the club's U19 team with a start in a 6-1 friendly victory over Viborg U19 five days later, assisting Razak Odeyemi for the Wolves' opening goal.[23] He made his reserve team debut in a 3-0 victory over Randers on 14 March, replacing Jonas Gemmer after 67 minutes.[24]

Personal life

More lives in Brentford.[25] On 23 December 2014, Moore was charged with handling stolen goods (which he denied), driving without a licence and driving without insurance.[2][26] On 2 March 2015, Moore was found guilty of handling stolen goods and paid a fine.[25] He received points on his license for the driving offences.[25]
