Montclair Plaza is an indoor shopping mall located in Montclair, California. At the time of its opening in 1968, it was the only indoor mall in San Bernardino County.

History

The mall opened on November 5, 1968, at a cost of $50 million, with 69 stores on a single level. Montclair Plaza was first anchored by J. C. Penney, The Broadway, and May Co.. The mall was developed by contractor Ernest W. Hahn. The mall was upgraded with a second level that opened on October 30, 1985. The first Nordstrom store in San Bernardino County opened at the Montclair Plaza on May 2, 1986. Currently, Montclair Plaza is anchored by JCPenney, Nordstrom, Sears, Macy's, and Barnes & Noble. The old Macy's site is currently vacant after the replacement of Robinsons May.[1] Competition from Victoria Gardens caused many of the stores to fail. To keep the mall's popularity, the mall was renovated during the summer of 2008. The newly renovated mall re-opened on November 9, 2008.[2] In addition, CIM Group, Inc. leases the mall.
