Introduction & History

Organized in 1989, "Monitor Records", formerly "Monitor Bi-Weekly" became a retail frontier dealer rather than an alternative magazine to introduce and publish musical articles from those titles which were extremely difficult to find in Hong Kong, directly collecting musical products from around the world and introducing them to the music lovers. Even before, those artists probably were seldom noticed or talked about. We would like to provide different choices to the music lovers.

"Monitor" is not a myth, but is a symbol of self-confidence and taste. We like to attempt brand-new good and creative music, and certainly do not care about whether or not it is well-known. "Monitor" is music lover's informant, paying attention to everybody looking for "the good object." We are a visual "monitor," in the same sense of a hearing "headphone". This is the meaning of today’s "Monitor Records" and the former "Monitor Bi-Weekly".

Experienced for 15 years, "Monitor Records" started as a retail dealer and grew to be a wholesaler and distributor. We established the goodwill for ourselves here and for many artists who were introduced by us, and have extended to the territories of China, Taiwan and other Southeast Asian countries.

The homepage with no doubt is of a general orientation. We have received more and more inquiries and requests for mail order from many music lovers in Southeast Asia and China. A homepage for “Monitor Records” is a must. We also hope to exchange the music experience with more music lovers from different countries, and also offer an easy way for them to find what they want.
