"His Daughter" is a song written by Kestner that chronicles a woman that has an unplanned pregnancy. Kestner wrote the song in fifteen minutes in 2013 and saved the song to perform at her senior chorus recital at the advice of her choir teacher. Kestner later performed the song on her grandmother's out-of-tune piano in her home and recorded the video on her cracked iPhone and uploaded the song to Facebook, where it gained 13,570 likes after Easter. Her video later brought the attention of Star Trek actor George Takei, who commented on his Facebook page "Has America found its young Adele? I'm nearly breathless from listening." "His Daughter" also received attention from singer Jordin Sparks.[4][5] Kestner's video later gained 2 million+ views after Takei shared Kestner's video. Kestner later performed the song on Good Morning America. Kestner later released a studio verson of "His Daughter" on iTunes, where it peaked at #42 on the iTunes chart in the United States.[6]
