Mojado (song)
"Mojado" is a written by Guatemalan singer-songwriter Ricardo Arjona for his tenth Studio album, Adentro (2005). The song was released as the lead single off the album in Mexico,[2] and as the third overall single of the album in 2006.
Composition
"Mojado" is a latin pop song with norteño and tejano music influences, mainly driven by the presence of Mexican band Intocable as featured artists on the song.[3] Lyrically, the song revolves around immigration,[4] telling the story of a man who abandons his country to another in search of a better quality of life.
The song opens softly with Spanish guitar. The opening lyrics describe the man packing to try to cross the border. As the tempo increases and the Mexican band joins in, the lyrics ask in Spanish, if the council of the heavens has given him permission to walk the earth from his birth till his death, why do they persecute Mojado (the wet - a derogatory term for undocumented immigrants).
The song aims to personalize the illegal immigration issue and ask questions to reveal another view of undocumented immigration.
