Mohammad Aziz-ur Rahman

Mohammad Aziz-ur Rahman (born in 1958 Sylhet, Bangladesh[1]) is a British Bangladeshi businessman and restaurateur. He moved from Sylhet to Oxford in 1969 and founded his first restaurant The Star of Asia in Oxford in 1978. Rahman was the first Chairman of this and the Guild of Bangladeshi Restaurateurs. His flagship restaurant, the Aziz in Cowley Road, is a frequent award winner. Rahman has been a director of the Bangladesh British Chamber of Commerce for 16 years.[2][3] He founded the organisation Nowka Bais UK. From 2007 Nowka Bais UK has been organizing Bangladeshi traditional boat racing in Oxfordshire on the occasion of county's 1000th birthday.[4]

In her letter, the Queen Elizabeth II said: “I was most interested to learn about the history of Nowka Bais and your continued support to your chosen charities... I much appreciate your kind words and, in return, send my best wishes to you all for a memorable and successful event.”[4]
