Mohamed Hag Ali Hassan (born 21 November 1947 in Sudan) is a scientist. He has published articles in various fields, mostly applying mathemathics in the physical sciences. He has been active as professor of mathematics and as dean of the School of Mathematical Sciences at the University of Khartoum, until 1986. Since 1983, he has been engaged with the organisation of academica in the developing world. Among others, he is the former executive director of The World Academy of Sciences (TWAS), president of the African Academy of Sciences (AAS), and the president of the Network of African Science Academies (NASAC). He also has been the director of the secretariat of the InterAcademy Panel (IAP) since 2001, and in 2010 to 2012 serves his first three-year period as one of the two co-chairs of IAP.
