Mohamad Abdul Tayyab

Dr. Mohamad Abdul Tayyab was born on 9th, February 1932. He was an outstanding cotton breeder, with many cotton varieties and hybrids to his credit, which were popular among farmers of Vidarbha.

Education and career

After completing his course and graduating from the Agricultural College, Nagpur, Abdul Tayyab continued on as a lecturer. He joined as Research assistant in 1956, and continued as Lecturer at the . In 1968, he was promoted as the Seed Testing Officer, Assistant Professor, in 1971 and Associate Professor, in 1972 and assumed the charge of Senior Research Scientist, in 1975 under the All India Coordinated Cotton Improvement Project (AICCIP) at Akola, and as Senior Cotton Breeder in 1978, and continued up to 1988, and superannuated in 1990.

After Retirement

After retirement Abdul Tayyab worked as Professor of Botany for 2 years. He died on 15th, June, 2007. Dr Tayyab is survived by his wife, 2 sons, and 2 daughters.
