Mkhitar Heratsi

Mkhitar Heratsi (Armenian: Մխիթար Հերացի) was an 12th-century Armenian physician. He is often called the father of Armenian medicine, the author of "Relief of Fevers" tractate, a cyclopedic work in which he discussed, among other subjects, surgery, diet and psychotherapy. Yerevan State Medical University is named after M. Heratsi. The most prominent students of YSMU are awarded with "Mkhitar Heratsi scholarship".
