Mitchell Coby Michael Grassi[1] (born July 24, 1992),[2] known professionally as Mitch Grassi, is an American singer, songwriter and YouTube personality, most known for singing tenor in the a cappella group Pentatonix.[3] He also co-hosts the web-show Superfruit with fellow Pentatonix member Scott Hoying.

Life and career

Grassi grew up in Arlington, Texas. Grassi met Scott Hoying during a Charlie and the Chocolate Factory stage play while in elementary school. While attending Martin High School, Grassi and Hoying met Kirstin "Kirstie" Maldonado. The three friends formed an acappella trio, posting their first cover of the Lady Gaga song, Telephone, to Youtube for a radio contest in which he sang alto.[4] Grassi is known as a counter-tenor, which is a male who can sing higher than the average tenor. Mitch made the TMEA All-State Choir three times during his high school career. In 2011, the trio, with the addition of Avi Kaplan and Kevin Olusola, formed the acappella group Pentatonix and won NBC's The Sing-Off.[5] Since the band's winning of The Sing-Off, they have released three full length albums,[6] one of which has gone platinum.[7] Grassi is also working in producing electronic music.[8]
