"Mistake" is a song by American recording artist Demi Lovato, from her third studio album Unbroken (2011). It was written by Leah Haywood, Daniel James, Shelly Peiken, while production was helmed by Dreamlab. the band derives from the styles of pop music, R&B and Electronic music. It received positive reviews from critics. Even without having been released as a single, the song reached the #91 place in Gaon Chart, South Korea.

Composition

Lovato said that when she heard "Mistake" for the first time what caught her attention was the letter: "I was fascinated by the fact that the girl has ended a relationship and it was the fault of someone else, his biggest mistake. I found it really interesting. a different view of a breakup. [...] instead of sitting in the corner feeling heartbroken, you can hear this song and feel almost powerful, thinking 'I will not let this keep me down. was the biggest mistake him'".[1] The song uses the same instrumental of the song "Born to Be a Lady" by Korean girl group Girls' Generation. The same team composed and produced the song for the group, with the song being re-written in Japanese for the group's self-titled Japanese language album.[2]

Critical reception

Joe DeAndrea of AbsolutePunk.net noted that this song goes "far and beyond anything in Lovato's prior arsenal."[3] Laurence Green compared this song's composition and production to Rihanna songs and called this song "watershed." [4] PopMatters editor Mike Schiller compared production to Ryan Tedder songs and described it as a "well-placed pop anger at it's best."[5]

Even without launch as music work, the song reached the #91 place in Gaon Chart, chart of South Korea[6]
