The Miss South Dakota Teen USA competition is the pageant that selects the representative for the state of South Dakota in the Miss Teen USA pageant. The pageant is directed by Future Productions.
South Dakota is one of the least successful states at Miss Teen USA, having only placed twice. Their highest placement was in 1986, when Valarie Marsden placed 4th runner-up to Allison Brown of Oklahoma. This state hasn't placed since 1989 and has not won any awards.
Unlike the majority of Miss South Dakota USAs, most of the South Dakota teens hail from Rapid City (most Miss titleholders have come from Sioux Falls).
Three Miss South Dakota Teen USA titleholders have won the Miss South Dakota USA pageant and competed at Miss USA.
Holly Hoffman, the mother of Alexandra and Elizabeth Hoffman, Miss South Dakota Teen USA 2006 and 2008 respectively, will compete on Survivor: Nicaragua in 2010.[1]
