Miss Myanmar is a national contest to refer to Myanmar's representative to the Miss Universe pageant.
History
Before creation Miss Myanmar or Miss Universe Myanmar pageant, the name of pageant was Miss Burma. Myanmar debut in 1959 with the name of Burma. Since 1959 to 1961 Myanmar competed at Miss Universe pageant. Since 1962 the local pageant has been banned by the government in unknown reasons.
In 2013, Daw Soe Yu Wai of a local media organization went to New York City to get a license for Miss Universe and make a declaration for Myanmar in returning at the Miss Universe. Her interview with former Miss Universe Olivia Culpo was featured on VOA Burmese, in which VOA reporter Kaye Lin conducted the interview as a translator.
Miss Universe Myanmar 2013
Moe Set Wine competed in Miss Universe Myanmar 2013 which was held on October 3, 2013 at the National Theatre in Yangon. The competition was organized by the Hello Madam Media Group. This competition was held for the first time since 1961. She won Miss Perfect Skin and Miss Famous titles, voted by fans through the Internet voting system and SMS messages. She became the winner of Miss Universe Myanmar 2013 after the competition. Moe Set Wine She was the first woman to represent the country in the competition since 1961.[1]

The winner of Miss Myanmar represents her country at the Miss Universe. On occasion, when the winner does not qualify (due to age) for either contest, a runner-up is sent. Since 2013 the name has been changed as Myanmar. Before the name will be using at the pageant, Burma has already used in 1959-1961 era.

Miss Myanmar International is the first beauty pageant and an initiative which is set to promote talent and principally market and promote Myanmar Tourism both locally and internationally. Under the supervision of Myanmar Tourism Board, the competition, organized by the Myanmar Tourism Services Co.,Ltd (MTS), is held at Myanmar Convenction Centre on 25th March and the contest will be attached with a fun fair. The contest also serves as a platform to educate and promote tourism and cultural exchange among the participating beauty queens. The Miss Myanmar International will grow to be the proverbial vehicle, capturing the essence of our country and its way of life through the eyes of these beauties. The contestants who have knowledge of tourism education, are allowed to complete with three costumes a fashionable and a traditional one plus a sport wear.
