Miss Fame is the stage name of Kurtis Dam-Mikkelsen an American drag queen, makeup artist, model, and singer who competed on season 7 of RuPaul's Drag Race. Following his elimination from the show, Dam-Mikkelsen launched a music career, releasing his debut single, "Rubber Doll", which is slated to appear on his upcoming debut album.

Career

Kurtis Dam-Mikkelsen, better known as his stage name Miss Fame, was born in San Luis Obispo, California. Dam-Mikkelsen worked as a male editorial model in California. Following the advice of fashion photographer Mike Ruiz, he moved to New York in 2011 and started working as a makeup artist. At the same time he began modeling and performing in drag as "Miss Fame."[1]

Miss Fame was noticed by photographer Mary McCartney who featured him in her book Devoted. He has also appeared in Half-Drag, a photo series by Leland Bobbé which attracted international attention and was featured in numerous publications including Vogue Italia.[2] Bobbé and Miss Fame appeared in a short documentary for RTL Television in Germany.[3] Miss Fame was also photographed for Gorgeous, a project by photographers Rob Lebow and Masha Kupets that involved Armen Ra, Candis Cayne, and Tammie Brown.[4] Dam-Mikkelsen also appeared several times in life interviews with The Huffington Post.[5] In 2014, Miss Fame appeared on Snooki & Jwoww in the episode, "What a Drag!" In the episode, Fame gave Snooki and JWoww makeup advice and a lesson on walking like a model.[6]

Dam-Mikkelsen works as a celebrity makeup artist in New York, and has worked on models and celebrities including Martha Wash, Wendy Williams, Ève Salvail, Snooki and JWoww, Jeffree Star, and Michael Urie.[7][8]

On December 7, 2014, during the "Ruveal" of RuPaul's Drag Race Season 7, Miss Fame was the first queen announced to be a contestant on the show. Fame was eliminated in the the ninth episode, "Divine Inspiration", placing him seventh overall. Following his elimination, he released the music video for "Rubber Doll," which is the first single from his upcoming album.
