The current titleholder is Andrea Neu, from Denver, Colorado, as Miss Earth United States 2014. Tiffany Rea, from Tehachapi, California, was crowned Miss Teen Earth United States 2014.
The other titleholders are Sara Platt of Columbia, South Carolina who won the title of Miss Grand United States 2014 and Channelle Chacon of El Paso, Texas won the title of Miss United Continent US.
History
2001-2004: Miss America International
The United States delegates in Miss Earth from 2001–2005 were selected by the Miss America International pageant where the prize was to represent the United States at the Miss Earth Pageant.
The very first American delegate for Miss Earth is Abigail Royce[2] of California. She competed in 2001 where she landed as one of the Top 10 semifinalists.[3][4]
2005-present: US Earth Pageant
In 2005, Earth Pageant Productions acquired the rights to conduct the national competition for the United States and to select a national winner to participate in the Miss Earth pageant. Thus, the United States Earth pageants were established to conduct the annual Miss Earth United States pageant.
The Miss Earth United States represents the United States in the annual Miss Earth pageant. The pageant adopted the slogan "Continuing the Legacy of Beauty and Responsibility". The pageant focuses mainly on promoting environmental causes and winners are chosen equally on their physical attributes as well as their understanding and knowledge of the issues affecting the Earth.[5][6][7]
In order to bring more awareness to the cause, and to provide the next generation an opportunity to get involved, a teen division was added in 2008. The winner of the pageant, held in conjunction with the Miss Earth United States pageant, is awarded the title of Miss Teen Earth United States.
In 2014, the US Earth Pageant acquired the franchise to send delegates from USA to Miss Grand International and to Miss United Continent pageants.
Competition
Delegates competing for the titles are judged in five equally important and weighted competitions. Interview, Platform Awareness, Swimsuits and Evening Gown presentations as well as overall impression. Judges seek the best overall candidate and focus is not placed on any particular category.[8][9]
Delegates can also earn bonus points on how she conducts herself throughout the pageant process, timeliness in meeting all deadlines, participation in events and appearances, her interaction with fellow delegates and pageant staff along with the judges overall impression of her.
National Semi-finalists who met the age and eligibility requirements are also eligible for the titles of "Miss Grand United States" and "Miss United Continents U.S."
Interview
Each delegate will have to go through an interview and will be judged on her ability to fulfill the titleholder’s responsibilities. Judges will assign a score based on the contestant’s communication skills, personality, personal appearance, sense of accomplishment, and knowledge, understanding and awareness of environmental issues and concerns. Contestants will not be scored on their opinions or personal beliefs.[8]
Swimsuit
Each delegate will be evaluated on her overall commitment to her physical health and lifestyle. Each contestant will be judged on her level of confidence necessary to be a titleholder. Judges will assign a score based on the contestant’s physical fitness, sense of confidence and composure, and display of drive, energy and charisma.[8]
Evening Gown
Each delegate will be assessed on her poise, grace, and commanding stage presence. Each contestant will be judged on her total look. Judges will assign a score based on the contestant’s beauty, carriage and grace, personality, and stage presence as well as her sense of style.[8]
