The Ministry of Public Administration and Home Affairs (Tamil: அரசாங்க நிர்வாக மற்றும் உள்நாட்டலுவல்கள் அமைச்சு Aracāṅka Nirvāka Maṟṟum Uḷnāṭṭaluvalkaḷ Amaiccu) is the central government ministry of Sri Lanka responsible for public administration. The ministry is responsible for formulating and implementing national policy on public administration, home affairs and other subjects which come under its purview.[1] The ministry manages the country's Byzantine administrative service including District Secretaries, Divisional Secretaries and Grama Niladhari (village officers). The ministry is not responsible for policing, prisons and immigration - these come under the purview of the Ministry of Law and Order, Ministry of Rehabilitation and Prison Reforms and Ministry of Defence and Urban Development respectively. The current Minister of Public Administration and Home Affairs and Deputy Minister of Public Administration and Home Affairs are John Seneviratne and Wijaya Dahanayake respectively.[2][3] The ministry has a recurrent budget of Rs. 138,534 million in 2014 and a capital budget of Rs. 4,500 million.[4]
