Ministry of Marine Economy (Poland)
Polish Ministry of Maritime Economy (Polish: Ministerstwo Gospodarki Morskiej) was created on May 5, 2006 during reconstruction of Prime Minister Kazimierz Marcinkiewicz government.
Ministry take an authority over some matters, previously administrated by Ministries of Agriculture, Economy and Transportation.
Ministry of Maritime Economy had an authority over:
- Overseeing of civilian navy
- Security of civilian navy
- Protection of the maritime environment
- Education of maritime crews
- Overseeing government agencies responsible for maritime matters (i.e. maritime schools and courts)
- Fishing
Creation of the ministry was often criticized. Many people say that this was created by political reason, to establish another ministry for coalition party of ruled Law and Justice - League of Polish Families,[1] because there is no need to creation separate ministry.
Abolition of the Ministry
In the new government of Donald Tusk there are no Ministry of Maritime Economy, which was abolished and their competences were transferred for other Ministries.
