Min-Liang Tan (Traditional Chinese: 陳民亮, Simplified Chinese: 陈民亮) is a Singaporean entrepreneur. He is best known as the co-founder, CEO and Creative Director of gaming hardware company, Razer Inc.. He directs and oversees the design and development of all Razer products.[1] Tan was a lawyer before he co-founded Razer with Robert Krakoff.[2]

In March 2012, Tan contributed US$10,000 to the Wasteland 2 Kickstarter project [3] where he admitted it was to atone for pirating Wasteland when he was a child. Brian Fargo replies that Tan has more than made up for his piracy of the game.[4]

Tan has been named one of "The 25 Most Creative People in Tech" by Business Insider together with Jonathan Ive and Gabe Newell.[5] He has also been ranked one of the top 40 most powerful people in gaming by Kotaku in their "The Kotaku Power 40" list.[6]

Early life

Born in 1977 in Singapore, Tan is the youngest of four children in his family. Being raised in Singapore, he is fluent in English and Mandarin. Tan attended Raffles Institution prior to attending university and graduated from the National University of Singapore Faculty of Law.[7] He was a lawyer for two years before co-founding Razer in 1998.[8]

Career

In 1998, Tan and Robert Krakoff developed their first mouse known as , "Boomslang" and founded Razer Inc in a small office space in San Francisco.[9]

Tan was appointed as a board member of Intellectual Property Office of Singapore (IPOS) on Mar 31, 2015.[10]
